In the event that you suddenly lose financial support for being queer or trans, there are many resources available to you.
Community Resources
Health

Dimensions clinic (SF) offers free or affordable health care to LGBTQ+ patients.
- The Pacific Center for Human Growth provides mental health services and peer support groups.
- Open Path is a database of therapists on a sliding scale from $30-$50.
- Point of Pride has an HRT access fund which you can apply to.
Housing

The City of San Francisco has a list of transgender housing resources.

Rainbow Community Center in Concord has a transitional housing program.

Resources For Students

The Basic Needs Center can help provide access to food, housing, or other financial support. Fill out this form to get started.

If you meet certain criteria, Cal Fresh can award students up to $281 for groceries.

Scholarships

The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office offers short-term emergency loans to graduate and undergraduate students. These interest-free loans are designed to help students meet unanticipated expenses directly related to the cost of education.

Declaring financial independence may be helpful for reducing tuition costs. Being estranged from family, parents refusing to accept gender or sexual orientation, and history of adverse home life are a few cases where a dependency override can be made. Reach out to the Student Advocacy Office or file a case with Cal Student Central.

Withdrawal is the process of dropping all classes once a semester has started. It cancels any enrollment in future semesters until readmission.
